    I ever tell you I spent two years reading all his books in the mid-90s?
    The best way to 'get' freud--for better & worse--is "Life Against Death" by Norman O. Brown. SF represents the most radical revolution since nietzsche (they are practically the same person), a great prosaic poet a la Whitman and a liberator when critiqued honestly. Not the cold schematic pervert we caricaturize him as...L. Trilling & S. Sontag called Brown's "LAD" the best interpretation of Freud...
